Hans and MaryAnn

like us on:

Hans and MaryAnn got married in Victorias, Negros Occidental on 21 May 1988 after a relatively short but intense period of correspondence. In those days KLM’s in-flight magazine Holland Herald still had a pen pals section and Hans responded to an entry from MaryAnn, and that was the start of things. MaryAnn worked and lived in Manila in those days, but hails from Victorias, Negros Occ., so they got married there.

At the moment of this writing, Hans is getting close to retirement (will turn 65 in 2011) but intends to continue working for another 1,5 – 2 years before finally throwing in the towel. They have traveled throughout the Philippines during the years of their marriage: Zamboanga, La Union, Negros Occidental (from Cadiz to Bacolod), Boracay, Puerto Princessa, Cebu, Bohol (seen the Tarsier), Baguio, Dumaguete, Siquijor and many, many times Manila. They both love to stroll through Makati (and do some serious shopping).
They are planning to retire to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental once Hans stops working.

Hans’ and MaryAnn’s visit to the Philippines, Dumaguete and Siquijor, is their first story.

At the moment of this posting they are still living and working in the Netherlands.

(added may 2012 ) Their move to the Philippines will be end of this year!

They have finally made it to the Philippines.  Check: “We made it”!
